Point of Sale (POS)

There are different industry standard systems which are being used on point-of-sales (POS) in restaurants. The system that has been evaluated in this project helps restaurants manage both front of house (customer facing) and back of house (managements) tasks. Based on front staff comments, although the system works well overall, there have been some issues such as difficulties in modifying orders and lack of a convenient way of communication between staff through POS system which make them ask for a revision.

To get a deep understanding of the situation, a cognitive walkthrough survey and contextual inquiry were conducted. These methods were used to evaluate visibility/hierarchy, mapping/consistency, feedback and mental model for some key tasks of the system. Findings and recommendations were presented through an interactive prototype.
